EQUIPMENT & CAPABILITIES
ORDER ENTRY / JOB TRACKING
All jobs start with computerized order entry. Computer generated job route sheets with bar coding for each process are issued with each job to facilitate job tracking throughout the manufacturing process. This also allows us to track any special quality control issues our customers have.
CAD / CAM / ELECTRONIC DATA
EXCHANGE
We use CAD based punch programming
software for programming our CNC equipment. We have software to unfold 3D CAD
files and can import your 2D or 3D CAD files directly. We can use the following
file formats: DXF, IGES, DWG (AutoCAD up to release 13) and HPGL1 or 2. We can accept
drawings or CAD files through e-mail. Of course drawings can always be faxed or sent via U.S. mail. We have an
HP Design Jet plotter which can plot up to 'D' size drawings.
MATERIAL / SHEARING
Sheet material is usually special electronic grade which has tolerances two times better than commercial standards. Small and medium volume part orders are sheared in our precision shear with 40" micrometer back gage. Maximum shear capacity is 10 Ga. cold rolled steel or .190 thick aluminum. For high volume parts we can order custom blank sizes directly from our metal suppliers to optimize material usage for lower part cost.
PUNCHING
Our newest CNC punch is a Strippit
1250XP. This machine is a very high speed state of the art punch. Hit rates up
to 330 per minute on 2" centers while holding +/-.004 inch tolerance are
possible. Blank sizes of 50"x50" without reposition or
50"x100" with reposition are possible. It also has 2 auto index
stations for programmable angle cuts with standard thick turret tools or 30
station multi-tool. The ultra high speed of this machine allow us to bid very
competitively. Our Wiedemann C1000 CNC punch is capable of 200 hits per
minute on 1" centers in blank sizes of 40"x40" without reposition
or 40"x80" with reposition and hold +/-.005 inch tolerance.
FORMING
We have Hydro-mechanical and Hydraulic CNC
press brakes. Capacities up to 55 tons and 6 1/2 feet of bend length while
maintaining .0004 inch ram repeatability and 4 axis' of Computer control allow
us to bend complicated parts very quickly and accurately with minimal handling.
HARDWARE INSERTION
Hardware is installed in one
of our Haegar brand hardware insertion machines. All our hardware presses have
auto feed capability and we have a wide variety of tooling to fit most types of
hardware. Large hardware requiring up to 8 tons of installation force are
possible.
GRAINING / DEBURRING
Cosmetic graining is done in our Burlington wide belt sander while deburring can be done in the same machine or numerous other small belt sanders depending on the application. Class 'A' line grain finishes in aluminum or steel before plating are very common.
WELDING
Very high quality welding of aluminum and steel is done with our 300 amp TIG welding machine with precision water cooled torches. Most types of welding are very dependant on operator skill and we pride ourselves as having some of the the best people in this field. Welds may be finish ground to very high cosmetic standards as required by customers. Spot welding of steel up to 14 Ga. can be done in our 20 KVA spot welder. Special fixturing for maintaining close welding tolerances are built in house. Spot welding of aluminum will be available soon.
MACHINING
We have a small machine shop which includes a mill, lathe, surface grinder, and drill presses for in house tool and fixture making and maintenance of our own equipment.

QUALITY CONTROL
Our entire business is structured around quality control. We incorporate it in every aspect of our business. Efficient computerized order entry, job control and detailed QC specifications compiled from your documentation and ours are issued with every work order we send out to our shop floor. We start with the best equipment and measuring tools which are rigorously maintained and routinely checked for accuracy. Most dimensions or process are double checked and signed off by a QC supervisor. We are versed in SPC (Statistical Process Control) for determining the suitability of a machine or process to fabricate a customers parts and can use SPC data collection procedures for documenting critical dimensions or attributes of your parts. We have implemented these procedures as part of our continuous improvement philosophy. Some of the benefits are the ability to track and trace parts to work orders, labor by each employee, materials used, subcontracts, and QC sign off for each process. We are proud of our history of building quality parts with minimal rejects. We have received awards from two of our electronics customers for outstanding performance. We are routinely told by our customers with multiple sheet metal vendors that we are there top rated sheet metal vendor for reasons of quality, price and delivery.
PEOPLE
People are the most important asset a company can have. We try to instill an attitude of quality workmanship and continuous improvement in all our employees. We have extensive in house training programs for our employees and encourage them to take job related classes at community colleges and technical schools which our company pays for. The single most important factor in quality control is people, a fact that we fully appreciate. Employees are regularly evaluated for quality and performance and improvements they can make.
